More Fall Pieces Incorporated- Leather Skirt and Suede Booties

Over the last two days I have incorporated a few more fall pieces into my outfits, and just wanted to show you in hopes to inspire you on how you too can achieve this!!

9.25.13
This was yesterdays outfit just didn't have time to post, it was also Day 17 of the Necklace Challenge!
I went with a grey leopard, shift dress (Forever 21) and paired it with camel, suede booties that I have from last season. The camel color is a great color for a shoe as it can be paired back to almost any other color! I chose this art deco inspired necklace (Casa Guero) because I wanted a pop color and love the color combo of grey and red!

9.26.13
This is today's outfit, I started the outfit with the black faux leather skirt (Forever 21), since it is now fall I just couldn't wait to wear some of my leather pieces! Now, because it is still relatively warm here in SA, I paired my skirt with a just a plan V-neck tee (Target). I tried tucking in the tee but didn't like that you could see the extra material, and rather then just let the t-shirt hang out, I rubber banded the back, then tucked the extra into the rubber band (you can see the detail shot). For shoes, I went with my fav of the moment, while I can still wear them (Sam Edelman).
I finished off the look with this fabulous new necklace (DAY 18-Necklace Challenge) I just received from my favorite place to get accessories.... Carinos-by Eydee!! I am loving the color, and the chunkiness of the necklace, but because it is made of rope it is super light and does not weigh down my neck. You have to check out her pieces, I will be showcasing more on the blog in the next coming days!

Fall Fashions in a Warm Climate!

I am very excited that we are now officially into fall! Although, here in SATX I am sure we will not feel the true weather effects until sometime next year, but we still have to try and incorporate fall pieces.
Below are some ideas I have on how I have done this over the last few days.

Look 1- Outfit was from last Thursday, I was going for a Feminine Rocker look (didn't get a chance to post it), this was also Day 11 of my necklace challenge. The basic idea here is fall means.... LAYERS! but if you live in a warm weather climate this might be hard to do. However if you take your spring/summer dress and layer it with a fall vest, which typically is not as hot, you still get the layered look without all the heat that comes with it. I chose to layer with my black leather studded vest, I also like that it helps to EDGE up the look !!

Look 2- Today's outfit and Day 15 of my Necklace Challenge! The first idea with this look, is that it is time to pull out the boots! However, again in the warmer weather this is a little more difficult. That is why the booties work best during this transition time, you can pair them again with a dress that you wore during the spring/summer time and have the fall element in your look. Later, once it actually gets cooler, you can throw some tights under that dress and add leather jacket, and still use the booties!
The second idea with this look, add a fall lipstick color to instantly update your look. The one that I am wearing today is MAC Rebel, and truly is a lipstick I only wear during the fall.
As for my necklace today, I am rockin' another fabulous Carinos by Eydee piece! (click here for link to her Facebook)

Start incorporating those fall pieces!!

Studded Skirt-Military Edge

It is Day 10 of my Necklace Challenge (I am wearing a different necklace everyday for 30 days) and for my overall look today, I went with a little Military Edge.
I started with my black and gold, stud skirt (Forever 21), then I picked out my camo print top (Zara). It has been awhile since I rocked any camo, so it made me happy to put this on today! Then, to help pull my look together I add my black and gold belt that was recently purchased (Ann Taylor) and my gold strappy heels (Chinese Laundry).
As for my necklace, my first thought was to wear my Carinos by Eydee, gold, triple chain necklace, but I wore that on day 3. I knew I still wanted a statement piece, and that is when I found this little number (Sam Moon)!! I love the girliness of the color with the hard/edginess of my outfit, I helps to brightness things up and not be so dark.  I added gold bracelets and my Nars Heat Wave lipstick, to complete the look!

Black and White-Geo Print

I am sure that most of you have seen that Black and White continues to be a huge trend, even on the runways of New York Fashion Week for Spring 2014! If you have not already embraced the trend you should try it, because clearly it is here to stay for a little while and it is super easy.

Today, I am showing you a really simple way to dress in this trend, I started with a geometric print pair of pants that my parents picked up for me while on their European Holiday! You might notice this is the second item of clothing I am saying this about (see Members Only Jacket post), so really it was my mom doing the picking out and my dad doing the paying for, but you can see the my mom has excellent fashion taste!! I then paired the pants with a color block, black and white sheer button-up (Forever 21). I chose to not go with a cami under, this is not something I normally do, but because the lower half of the blouse was black and I was wearing a black bra it was hard to really see all the way through and I felt it was tasteful enough. I like the showing of a bra under a sheer top when done right, best bet here is go with darker colors, and match the bra to the color of the top. I accessorized my look with my gold bottom, black heels (Enzo Angiolini), my skinny gold belt and black/gold jewelry. Lastly, I chose to go with a fab red lipstick (Nars-Jungle Red)....I feel black and white just screams for a pop of RED!!

It is Day 9 of my Necklace Challenge!! Today I chose a black and gold, art deco inspired necklace (Forever 21) that I wore on the top of my collar, so that the necklace stood out more. I have never really been able to do the bib necklace thing because for me buttoning that top button just really drive me nuts (I don't know why, I love the look on other people but hate it on me), so this is my play on that idea.

How can you rock the black and white?!?

Philip Lim Sweater

Hope you are all coming off a great weekend!

I wanted to show you my new leopard print Philip Lim sweater that I purchased this weekend from the 3.1 Philip Lim for Target line. I loved the print, colors and the fact that the sleeves and back of the sweater are silky material. I choose to pair it with a cobalt blue haram pants, that helps to pull that color from the print on the sweater. If you have not checked out the collection you must, if it is still available at your local Target, I think a lot of places have sold out.

It is also Day 8 of my necklace challenge, I went with a really simple gold necklace as to not to take to much away from the print of my sweater. Also, today I went with flats due to the fact that it was rainy here today and I did not want to risk taking a spill on the slick grounds.

I will post my pics for days 5, 6 and 7 later this week, so stay tuned!

Girly Edge....Day 4

Today I am showing you how to mix girly lace fabric with some edgy accessories and it is Necklace Challenge Day 4!!

You can see that I have paired my Emerald Green lace dress with a black studded belt that reads as super edgy, this belt actually belonged to my great aunt who, as you can see from this accessory alone, was a true fashionista!
I added a Silver Chain Necklace that ties into a bow, I feels this help to pull together the girly edgy combo, you have edginess of the chain and the girliness of the bow. I also wore all silver rings and arm candy, and finalized my look with a pair of Sam Edelman Lorissa heels! These, I think, are my most fav pair of shoes, I am totally in love with the rhinestones, studs and spikes on the heel and that fact that it is on a Nude color again creates that girly edge!

Members Only Jacket

Well today is Day 3 of my Necklace Challenge, I am going to be wearing a different necklace everyday for the next 30 days. Today I went with one of my most favorite necklaces and one that I wear a lot so it is going to be hard to not repeat this one.
The necklace is a Carinos-by Eydee (click to see her Facebook page), my dress I received as a gift from parents, they bought it for me from Italy while on their European holiday, I love the cobalt color, you will continue to see this color in fall. As you can see I paired it with a black and white Members Only Jacket that I just bought yesterday (Marshalls-$25), I am so excited about this jacket, they are back in style people so if you have an old one pull it out! I also, love the color combo of the cobalt blue with black and white. I again wore my mixed metal Sam Edelman heels (see Necklace Challenge post) and lots of mix metal jewelry!

Don't be afraid to pair a casual/sporty layer piece with dressier items, it is a great way to update your usual look and is a big thing right now in fashion, that I think is here to stay.

Day 2, plus Black and White

Well, it is Day 2 of my necklace challenge, and today I went with a little number that I have had for a while. (Forever 21) You will see that I chose to go with a completely neutral color palette of black, white, and gold! I am seeing that black and white is going to continue to be a strong color pairing for this Fall and even into Spring 2014, I have been keeping up with NYFW!!

My harem pants are ones I have posted about before (Nordstrom Rack) but today I paired it with just a simple black v-neck (Target $10). I am telling you I am really loving this t-shirt thing right now (see past postings), it is just so simple to wear!!
I just added a few additional pieces of gold jewelry (rings, bracelet and watch) to complement my necklace! I chose to go with my hair up because if the weather here in San Antonio, it has been raining off and on all day.

Necklace Challenge!!

Here we are, the start of another week!!  Hope you all had a great weekend!

This weekend I was looking at some of my jewelry, and thought that I really should where more the of the TONS necklaces that I own, I tend to pick up the same ones. SO, I am giving myself the challenge to wear a different necklace for the next 30 days!

Below, is the necklace that I am wearing today (Forever 21- old) I paired it with a fairly new skirt that I recently purchased from Nordstrom Rack (roughly around $15). It is a good end of summer piece and something that I will be able to transition into fall with tall boots and layer pieces. Today I paired it with an olive button-down that has some brass stud details (Marshalls-$?), along with my Sam Edelman mixed metal heels, I also recently purchased (Piperlime-$65, click here for link).

Stay tuned for a new necklace everyday for the next 30 days!!

Hello Again!

It has been sometime since my last post :( but I am back!

I wanted to share my outfit of the day with you, I LOVE pairing a plain tee with a dressier item. (If you look at some of my past posts you probably already know this!)

Today I paired a White V-neck Tee (Target $9) with a pair of Wide Leg Silk Trousers (Ann Taylor $30-SALE!!), both items purchased this week. I really liked the print on the pant, as well as the overall silhouette! Now, because they are a bit longer I made sure to go with a little bit of a higher heel (4"-Kenneth Cole already owned) to insure the pants did not look to long on me, and actually I feel like because the pant hits almost right at the ground, my legs look longer then what they really are.(Always a great thing!)

I then layer-up lots of Gold Jewelry. I love the color combo of Blue, White and Gold, it just feels very classic.

Now, if it really felt like fall here in San Antonio, I would have layered either a blazer or motto jacket of some sort, but considering it will reach 99 today, I decided to leave the layer at home.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am ready for FALL WEATHER and all the FALL FASHIONS, but I am sure I will have to wait a few more months.

Daytime Sequins with Mixed Metals

Happy Monday! Today I wanted to show you how easy it can be to wear daytime sequins! I know some women my stray away from sequins for daytime, in fear that they may look to flashy, but I promise it is possible!

The key to daytime sequins is to pair it with something that is more casual, you can see below that I chose to wear my BCBG black sequin skirt with a FOREVER 21 heather grey, plain, v-neck tee. (I am a high/low girl, meaning I am all about mixing higher cost items with lower cost ones!) I kept my jewelry very simple with just a gold chain necklace, my silver "C" necklace, silver AX watch, gold stud bracelet and my usual rings......... And voilà, daytime sequin look, super easy!!

Now, I also have to talk about my NEW shoes, because I am so in love!! They are SAM EDELMAN and I bought them from Piperlime.com, the style is called the Allie. I am loving the mix of metals on them because I can wear with both gold and sliver or like I did today wear mixed metal jewelry!  I am not usually big on mixing my metals but I feel like the mix tones work well with this outfit because of the fact the heather grey serves as a neutral, and it is a theme I carried throughout my whole look.

Don't be afraid to add a little sparkle to your everyday!!

Yellow Shorts and Affordable Shoes

Check out todays outfit! I am loving my new very yellow shorts!

I just purchased these shorts from Marshall's for $17, I love that store and am always able to find stuff that I love! That is why I have to limit the amount of times I let myself go in, because I always walk out with something. I paired my new shorts with my shear camo print blouse from Zara, I love the bright color of the short with the camo print.

My shoes are fairly new too, I am loving this strappy heel thing that we are seeing everywhere, plus they are very comfortable. Believe it or not my shoes are from Burlington, they are Chinese Laundry and I bought them for only $13! I was so surprised when I went into Burlington last week to come out with 3 pairs of shoes, each one was less then $20 in cost and all name brands. So ladies, I highly recommend going in and checking out the one nearest you!

Finally my necklace is from Sam Moon, if you are from Texas then you have probably heard of this store, if not you need to check out their website, sammoon.com. They have some great jewelry at some super affordable prices.

So in total, the major parts of my outfit came out to under $60!

New Statement Necklaces

Today I wanted to show everyone my new statement necklace that I got over the weekend at my Carinos-by Eydee Trunk Show!!( https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee?fref=ts ) We had the best time hanging out with friends/family, shopping fabulous accessories and I got to meet so many new fabulous ladies!

I paired my coral statement bauble necklace with just a black dress, I felt this look was super chic and let the necklace do the talking! Also new from the Trunk Show are my midi-ring and my talon-ball bracelet! I stuck with sandals as to help make the look summery.

FYI....... you can wear black in summer, it is a timeless color, it is just all about how you accessorize it!

Summer Fabrics

Today I wanted to show you two summery fabrics that I paired together to keep my cool during this super HOT summer day! I hope this helps you know what to look for while you are out shopping or picking out your outfits!
My top is chambray which is made from 100% cotton, this means that it breathes really well and helps to keep me cool. My skirt is cotton/nylon blend and sort of like a crape texture, the best part of the skirt is the lining! It is a mesh which is so light and airy for me while it is 100 degrees outside today.
I finished off my look with my Aldo studded loafer and a fabulous Carinos (https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee?fref=ts) that pulled the color of my skirt up, and finally a bright fuchsia lip...which is a drug store find Maybelline Hot Plum!

Utility Vest

This is yesterday's outfit, I am a day late with the post but I really liked my outfit and wanted to show you!

It was rainy all day yesterday so I chose to wear a utility vest with a hood so I didn't have to worry about carrying around an umbrella. I decided to pair it with a dressier top and pair of bright shorts!

70's Chic

Well today I just had to show you this great dress I just bought from Marshalls for under $30!!
I love the chic 70's vibe, I feel like I am just missing a wide brim hat a la Rachel Zoe.

I purchased this dress yesterday at my local Marshalls (one of my favorite stores), I loved the colors and silhouette. When I got home I started outfit building right away!
First I pulled out these Kenneth Cole navy suede, gold trim, stacked heels that I have owned for years. Then I knew I wanted long layered necklaces because I felt it would help play up that 70's feel. I realized I don't have many long necklaces but I did so happen to have two that went perfect with my dress! I was able to pull in some of the emerald color in with my necklace, earrings and rings!

Dresses are one of the easiest things to wear because all you really have to do is add accessories and you have a complete look! Check out your local Marshalls to see what dresses you can find!!

Plain V-neck Tee

Today I wanted to show you how I dressed up a plain V-neck neon tee! This is a great summer option as t-shirts are easy to wear during this time of year!

I decided to pair it with my silky animal print haram pants. I love the neon color of this tee and how it looks when paired back to a dresser material. I love the idea of mixing dressy and causal, and that is what I was going for here.
I played up the dressier element with my accessories like my tribal piece necklace with rhinestones, my gold watch with bracelets, my black and gold skinny belt and gold bottom platform heels.

Finally, I topped my look off with a bright orange lip from MAC called Good to Go, which is a fab color for summer!

How can you dress up a plain V-neck tee?

Olive as a Neutral

Today I wanted to show you how great Olive is as neutral or base color. I have believe for sometime, that Olive should be in every ones closet (men and women!) It really is true neutral color and can be utilized as you would a Black, Brown or Navy. It's a really fab neutral for summer because it pairs with bright and neon very easily, even easier then a Black because it is not as harsh of a contrast.

You can see below that I paired a Olive pair of haram pants with two bright pieces. First I pulled my Magenta silk tank, then I  knew I wanted another bright contrast, so I went with my Coral floral printed crop cardi! I also know I wanted to wear heels today because I had not worn any during the whole July 4th weekend, it was due time!! I chose a pair of Bone colored, patent leather, close toe platforms. I love this platform because it is super comfortable to wear all day due to the fact that the bottom is cork, so it is easy on the feet! And they make me super tall!!

I finished my look off with a matching Bone colored statement necklace, and one of my favorite watches, I kept my jewelry pretty subtle (for me) today! And finally a bright Magenta lip!

When you are out shopping this summer look for some Olive to add into your closet, try to go for pieces that can versatile and used as a base to pair your brighter colors with!

Shades of Pink!

Today I decided that I wanted to pair all different shades of pink together!

I actually started with my earrings and lipstick, after I pulled my hair back (will talk about this below), I knew I wanted to wear a great pair of earrings! That is when I founds these powder pink little gems, another if my Cariños-by Eydee pieces. (https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee) I then put on my fuchsia lipstick and it dawned on me, it would be great if I did my whole outfit in shades of pink!
Then I  pulled out a pink pair of shorts that I owned, they are a little big on me now so I simply cuffed the hem and made it look as if they are to sit low and slouchy. Then I picked out hot pink silk tank that is pretty close in color to my lipstick, funny enough! I knew I wanted another light pink item to help pull the color of the earring into the color palette, that is why I choose this pale pink cardi.
As I stated above, prior to me picking our my outfit, I did my hair first. I simply started with a front side twist, then pulled the rest of it back into a side pony. Once, in the pony tail I stated bobby pinning random pieces up, I left some longer pieces to give it a bit of the undone vibe. I actually really like the way it turned out and might start to become a common hairstyle for me this summer.

Funny side note: While in my closet looking for pink items, the line from a very famous movie kept running through my head "My colors are blush and bashful........Your colors are pink and pink"

 Can anyone name the movie??

Cut Offs: Casual to Classy

Today's look was inspired by a blog I read called, Glitter Guide. A few weeks a go they did a piece on "10 Ways to Style Cut Off Shorts" (http://theglitterguide.com/2013/06/27/10-ways-to-style-cut-off-shorts/) I knew I had this pair of cut off denim shorts that I had yet to wear, so after reading that I was inspired to try and make them look a little more ME!
I started with the cream colored button down, this is a classic piece that every girl should have in her closet, I liked that it was long sleeve and very loose, as the shorts are a little short it was nice to cover up the top half of me, MODESTY is always a plus! Then I added a gold belt, I felt it helped add a little class to the over all look, and I needed the support to insure the shorts stayed up. I added a gold chain necklace and gold cuff bracelet, what is more classic than cream and gold together!! Now, wanting to stay casual looking I went with a pair of cream strappy sandals with gold studs, I thought the studs help to pull in a little bit of the detail from the short.
I did my hair down and tried to get a "beach wave" (sort of worked) and went with a really pretty pink lip color, while it is not super bright it still gives some great color!

Leopard and Mint

Another quick outfit post today! I wanted to be very casual and cool today due to the fact we are now in the 100 degree temps here in San Antonio.
I started with my leopard print top, I knew that I wanted to pair this with a color the felt more summery, so I went with mint! I added a mint necklace to help pull the color of the shorts up, it also is another FAB Carinos by Eydee piece!(https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee) I went with my hair up in a messy bun, again because of the heat I did not feel like dealing with my hair down. Finished it off with my nude gold studded flats, did not feel like rocking the heels today. I also went really light with my eye make-up (just shimmery shadow and mascara) added some blush and a bold red lip!

Bangs and a Scarf

This post is for yesterdays outfit.....

Yesterday I decided that I wanted to have bangs! However knowing that I could never make the full-time commitment to them, I wore my clip-in bangs!!! You will see in the picture below that they are the Jessica Simpson brand, I think I purchased them at Ulta. Props to those of you ladies that do have real bangs because one day with my clip-ins and I knew that I never do it. I was way to concerned when the wind blew with having to fix them again and they were constantly in my eyes. It was however really fun to have them for the day and I love that I can wear them whenever I want!

The other thing I decide to do was add a scarf to my donut bun, just to change things up. This is a scarf that my parents brought me back from Italy, and actually has a Picasso image on it, however you can't really tell when it is on my head.

I did my hair first then picked out an outfit that I felt would match the vibe of my hair style. Hope you like!

Feminine Prep with an Edge!

Today's look is what I like to call "Feminine Prep" (think J Crew like) but I added a little bit of an EDGE to it.

I started with my skirt that was purchased from Ann Taylor Loft (on sale!), I loved the colors of it with the pleating and tea length. I paired it with a fine stripe button down, the stripe is a light blue on a white ground, which almost makes it look chambray like. I then knew I had to give it some edge, I did this by adding a black belt with silver grommets, a silver chain and rhinestone necklace and silver bracelets. I finished it with a really fab shoe that I have had for a while but have never worn, they are a nude gathered mesh with a rhinestone heel! Of course I finished with a bright colored lip, however I kept my eye makeup really light with some shimmer and my hair down for the first time this week!

How can you add a little edge to your look?

Urban Safari

Usually I am not a fan of Black and Yellow together. Today however, I was able to pull it off the because the Yellow is more of a Mustard and the Black was incorporated as a print and accessories rather then a solid color.
As you can see, I pretty much kept my color story to Black, Mustard, Cream and Gold. Then of course added a colored lip, I went with my NARS Jungle Red, which is a great warm Red and pairs well when wearing warm colors like Mustard! Love the name too, it's funny that it match my "Urban Safari" look! Again with my hair up in a high bun, which has been the style of choose all week due to the fact that I have been lazy. ***Which ladies if you do not own a Donut Bun already then you must in vest in one! (see picture below) It has become a staple in my hair styling, and is supper easy to use.

This is just one example of donut bun, there are many versions out there!

Woodlands Camo Adorned

Today I decided to adorn my woodlands camo t-shirt with some glamorous jewels!!

If you don't already know, my boyfriend is currently deployed and today I felt like I need to show a little army love in his honor! So I wore my woodlands print camo tee, see my Crazy for Camo post for camo breakdown http://anelegantedge.blogspot.com/2013/04/crazy-for-camo.html.  Which by the way, I purchased at an army surplus store for very cheap, paired it with a pair of bright neon shorts and cuffed the sleeve hem, it really helps to dress up a basic crew neck tee. Bright Citron and Olive work very easily together, and is a fun color combo.

In order to make the look a little more ME, I added a fancy little necklace. This of course is costume jewelry, that I purchased sometime ago from Forever 21. In keeping with the same metal color I added more edgy silver accessories and a silver heel. Placed my hair in a high bun because it was super humid this morning, it also saves me time when getting dressed and Monday's are always the days that I hit snooze, so this helped shorten my get ready time so I could get a few extra minutes of sleep!

I love dressing up camo, or anything that is unexpected combinations, I think I post at least once a week about something like this, so I hope it inspires you to mix things up!

Aquamarine meets Coral

Today will be another quick post but I wanted to show you all this fabulous pair of earrings!!
They are again from one of my favorites Carinos by Eydee, and they are a great statement earring and are very light weight, which is really nice on your ears, and I LOVE the aquamarine color of them!

When building my outfit today I started with the earrings and decided I really wanted to wear them with a color that would make them standout! So I choose to do an all coral outfit, it just so happened I had a pair of shorts and a top that matched perfectly in color, and really put me in a great mood because the color is so bright! I absolutely believe that the colors we wear can effect our mood.

If you want to try a monochromatic look but are a little afraid of wearing a bright color all over, you can accomplish by pairing a solid color items that matches the base of a printed item, as I have done. The base color of my shorts matches my button up chiffon top, so it gives me the monochromatic look. I finished off my look with a pair of shoes that matched in color to my lovely aquamarine earrings, a gold belt and adding some gold chains in my necklace and bracelet. It was a super easy outfit to wear and kept me cool in the crazy humidity we are having in San Antonio.

You have to go an check out Carinos by Eydee on Facebook to see all the beautiful, fun pieces she has for purchase- https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee

Floral and Chains

Today I decided to rock a floral dress and wanted to add a little edge to it!
I started with a dress I bought a few months ago at Kohl's and now it is a little looser on me, to help give me a waist I belted it, then I pulled the top out over the belt to give it that blousant look. I love the print and colors on this dress, if you have a dress that you love but is a little big think about adding a belt, keep in mind the silhouette of the dress this will effect if you will be able to pull this look off. It is best to try this with a dress that is a boxier cut.

Now, on to the accessories! As I stated above, I wanted to add some edge and knew that this fabulous triple chain gold necklace that I just received from Carinos by Eydee would be the perfect thing to add that edge, yet still look feminine!  I add a pair of earrings that had a great pop of green, that I carried over to a ring that I bought when I was in China. Then layered up my wrists with more Carinos pieces! (gold bangles w/jewels and gold chain bracelet) I finished my look with a pair of fuchsia t-strap heels, because I love how it pulled the color from the dress. I went with an up-do style for my hair as to really show off my fabulous necklace!

You must go and check out Carinos by Eydee (https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee) she has the best accessory pieces!

A Statement Earring!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Today's post is going to be quick but I had to share with you a new pair of earrings! They are from a place called Sam Moon, if you live in San Antonio, Dallas or Austin you know what I am talking about! However if you are not from any of those place you can go online to Sammoon.com and buy!! The prices are so affordable, now the quality may not be top of the line but if you are looking for trendy, fun items that you don't want to spend too much on this is where you need to go!

As you can see I choose to pop that cobalt from the earring down to my shoes. I also went with my hair up and powder blue denim and a simple top. I thought that the powder blue played nicely with the cobalt. I kept all my other accessories very minimal as to really let the earrings stand out!

DIY Headpiece

For the longest time I was looking for a chain headpiece and could not find one at any local retailers, while I did see some online, they were a little more then what I wanted to pay. So I decided to make my own, and I am going to show your how too! Be sure to check out my outfit with headpiece at the end of this post!!

FYI this took me about 10 minutes and cost me about $10, super easy!!

WHAT YOU NEED:
Chain- I bought mine at Michael's and I actually bought 2 I will show you why shortly, but maybe you have an old necklace that you could use.
Left-over Earring- This was a pair of earrings that came as set with a necklace, and I have never worn the earrings, so it was perfect to use. Take a look in the jewelry you currently own, I am sure there is something that you can make work, and this is a great way to repurpose something you no longer wear.
Link Connectors and Lobster Claw Closure- Again I bought these at Michael's.
Needle Nose Pliers- I had these already, but I am sure you can find some at any craft store.

HOW TO:
(Hope you can understand my directions, if not email me)

Step 1- Measure the length for "A", I just did mine quickly in the mirror and held where I wanted it to end with my fingers. (If you use same chain as I have, ensure that you start measurement with lobster claw in back at end of "A")

Step 2- At the place you marked for "A" to end, open the chain link and remove excess chain.

Step 3- Again measure where you want "B" to fall your head, you are going to want a little bit of a drape on the side, and open link at that point and remove excess chain.  TIP: Mine worked out that after I measured "A", the leftover chain when cut in half was the perfect amount for "B" & "C"!

Step 4- Repeat step 3 for "C" (Unless you use my tip above!) You just want to ensure that the measurement of "B" and "C" are equal, so that it will sit on your head properly.

Step 5- Use link connector to attach "A", "B", and "C" together at what will be the front.

Step 6- Take earring and connect with link to the same link connector that you just used in step 5 (be sure to remove earring from any attachment that was used to make it hang)

Step 7- Use another link connector to attach "B" and "C" in back. (Now, you will see that in my picture below "B" & "C" have piece that are the ends of necklaces on both sides. The chain I bought came with that on one end, which I used for "B". I took that same piece off the 2nd chain I bought and attached it to "C".) If your chain "A" does not already have lobster claw at end, you will need to attach it to "A" and use to connect to link that is holding "B" and "C"

FINISHED!!

HOW I OUTFITTED IT:
Because this headpiece gives that boho vibe, I decided to incorporate that into the outfit I built, which turned out to be very colorful!

Army tee Glam

Today I decided I wanted to try and glam up my Leopard print Army Tee!!

I started by pairing it with these fuchsia dress shorts I recently bought from Ann Taylor Loft, then I layered my mint zip cardi with it because I really liked the color combo of fuchsia and mint together. To really achieve the look I was after, I went for one of the most glamorous necklaces I have and added a glam watch. I kept my accessories minimal in numbers as to really let the necklace do the talking! The necklace worked out really well with the color of my zip cardi, as the stones have that opalescence effect, so it looks cool when reflecting with the mint. I finished off my look with a sleek pair of nude heels with gold plate on cuff, to pull in the edginess from the tee. Oh! I almost forgot, I added a fuchsia lip, love me a colored lip!!

The idea of this look is one that I really love to dress with, I love pairing things together that you don't expect, like a tee with glamorous necklace and dressy shorts. It so much fun try and see what new and fresh looks you can come up with......so get in and shop your closets and see what usual things you can pair together, sometimes it is better then going shopping at a store (and more cost efficient!)

Hello June...here are my POP pants!

I can't believe we are already in JUNE!!
Since we are now officially in the midst of summer, I decide that I wanted to rock a pair of bight colored denim! I choose a pair of bright citrus denim, and chiffon cream button down, to keep it simple and let the pants be my POP!! I paired it with some chucky gold accessories and a nude snake skin heel!
Colored denim is such a fun and easy thing to wear when you just pair then with a neutral top and add some great accessories! Try to go for the brighter colors right now since we are in Summer, also because they are on the lower half of your body you don't have to worry about the color going with your skin tone, so you can pick a color you may not normally wear close to your face!

Pull out your colored denim if you have it, if not get out there and find some. Every retailer has them, from Old Navy to Nordstrom, so no matter your budget you should be able to find a color you love!

Color for the Home

Going into this weekend I wanted to give you a few ideas on easy ways to spruce up your home!

ADD SOME COLOR WITH DIY PILLOWS!!
I recently decided I needed some new art work for my fireplace, now wanting to be cost conscious, I found both of these pieces from Marshalls, I liked them because I felt they paired together very well, and sort of went with the colors I already have in my home. Also it add a really fun punch of orange! Wanting to play that up more, I went to the fabric store and found this great orange print, that I knew I wanted to make pillows with. I also had this great orange raw silk material left over from my college senior year collection, that was back 2004! I think that it really helped to brighten up my living room!

COLORIZE YOUR BOOKS!!
This is a really easy way to freshen up your bookshelves! Take a look at the books that you currently own and see what kind of color combos you can make. I also was able to match the coloring of the pics in the frames too! Then I added some pieces to the tops of the stacks!

HOPE THIS HELPS TO INSPIRE YOU!

The Secretary Blouse

You will see my outfits for the last two days below, and you will see that I wore a secretary blouse on both days. What is funny is that I did not mean to do this, but I thought it would make a good side by side of how you can wear them!
The first look I paired with shorts that I just purchased this weekend from The Loft, I went with a more neutral top because I wanted the print on the shorts to stand out. I added some yellow jewelry because the print in the shorts had the same color and I wanted it to pop! On the second look I paired the blouse with my harem animal print pants that you have seen before. Now with this look I wanted the blouse to stand our because of the amazing color, so I went with a neutral bottom and keep the jewelry and shoes low key. However, I of course had to have a color on my lip, it was not the exact shade of the blouse (though I would love to find that color for my lip) but it works that it is a shade or two deeper.

Now you will also notice that I did not tie the ties into bows on either look, I like the length and linear appearance is gives me. Plus it help to make it a little more easy going and not so stuffy while still looking elegant! So please note that it is acceptable to wear them un-tied!!

DO YOU HAVE A SECRETARY BLOUSE? YOU SHOULD!!

Sequins for Summer!

As we are around the corner from Summer!! I wanted to let you know that you can absolutely still wear sequins in summer, in my opinion sequins are good year around!! You just have to outfit it with the right thing to ensure that you don't look holiday. Now, it is no surprise if you have seen some of my other blogs that I choose to pair my sequin skirt with a chambray button up. I LOVE sequins and chambray together and is a super easy way to dress it down and stay cool when we really start to hit those high temps. I choose to keep my jewelry pretty simple (for me) with all cream and gold as to not out do the skirt and went with a great pop color shoe, which matches my lip color! I believe in color lipstick, I have fair skin, so I feel that it just helps to brighten my whole face.

Some other options for wearing sequins for summer would be:

With Stripes!

With Denim!

With a Tee!

Hope this inspires you to pull out your sequins and play around with how you can wear it for summer!
