Leopard and Mint

Another quick outfit post today! I wanted to be very casual and cool today due to the fact we are now in the 100 degree temps here in San Antonio.
I started with my leopard print top, I knew that I wanted to pair this with a color the felt more summery, so I went with mint! I added a mint necklace to help pull the color of the shorts up, it also is another FAB Carinos by Eydee piece!(https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee) I went with my hair up in a messy bun, again because of the heat I did not feel like dealing with my hair down. Finished it off with my nude gold studded flats, did not feel like rocking the heels today. I also went really light with my eye make-up (just shimmery shadow and mascara) added some blush and a bold red lip!

Bangs and a Scarf

This post is for yesterdays outfit.....

Yesterday I decided that I wanted to have bangs! However knowing that I could never make the full-time commitment to them, I wore my clip-in bangs!!! You will see in the picture below that they are the Jessica Simpson brand, I think I purchased them at Ulta. Props to those of you ladies that do have real bangs because one day with my clip-ins and I knew that I never do it. I was way to concerned when the wind blew with having to fix them again and they were constantly in my eyes. It was however really fun to have them for the day and I love that I can wear them whenever I want!

The other thing I decide to do was add a scarf to my donut bun, just to change things up. This is a scarf that my parents brought me back from Italy, and actually has a Picasso image on it, however you can't really tell when it is on my head.

I did my hair first then picked out an outfit that I felt would match the vibe of my hair style. Hope you like!

Feminine Prep with an Edge!

Today's look is what I like to call "Feminine Prep" (think J Crew like) but I added a little bit of an EDGE to it.

I started with my skirt that was purchased from Ann Taylor Loft (on sale!), I loved the colors of it with the pleating and tea length. I paired it with a fine stripe button down, the stripe is a light blue on a white ground, which almost makes it look chambray like. I then knew I had to give it some edge, I did this by adding a black belt with silver grommets, a silver chain and rhinestone necklace and silver bracelets. I finished it with a really fab shoe that I have had for a while but have never worn, they are a nude gathered mesh with a rhinestone heel! Of course I finished with a bright colored lip, however I kept my eye makeup really light with some shimmer and my hair down for the first time this week!

How can you add a little edge to your look?

Urban Safari

Usually I am not a fan of Black and Yellow together. Today however, I was able to pull it off the because the Yellow is more of a Mustard and the Black was incorporated as a print and accessories rather then a solid color.
As you can see, I pretty much kept my color story to Black, Mustard, Cream and Gold. Then of course added a colored lip, I went with my NARS Jungle Red, which is a great warm Red and pairs well when wearing warm colors like Mustard! Love the name too, it's funny that it match my "Urban Safari" look! Again with my hair up in a high bun, which has been the style of choose all week due to the fact that I have been lazy. ***Which ladies if you do not own a Donut Bun already then you must in vest in one! (see picture below) It has become a staple in my hair styling, and is supper easy to use.

This is just one example of donut bun, there are many versions out there!

Woodlands Camo Adorned

Today I decided to adorn my woodlands camo t-shirt with some glamorous jewels!!

If you don't already know, my boyfriend is currently deployed and today I felt like I need to show a little army love in his honor! So I wore my woodlands print camo tee, see my Crazy for Camo post for camo breakdown http://anelegantedge.blogspot.com/2013/04/crazy-for-camo.html.  Which by the way, I purchased at an army surplus store for very cheap, paired it with a pair of bright neon shorts and cuffed the sleeve hem, it really helps to dress up a basic crew neck tee. Bright Citron and Olive work very easily together, and is a fun color combo.

In order to make the look a little more ME, I added a fancy little necklace. This of course is costume jewelry, that I purchased sometime ago from Forever 21. In keeping with the same metal color I added more edgy silver accessories and a silver heel. Placed my hair in a high bun because it was super humid this morning, it also saves me time when getting dressed and Monday's are always the days that I hit snooze, so this helped shorten my get ready time so I could get a few extra minutes of sleep!

I love dressing up camo, or anything that is unexpected combinations, I think I post at least once a week about something like this, so I hope it inspires you to mix things up!

Aquamarine meets Coral

Today will be another quick post but I wanted to show you all this fabulous pair of earrings!!
They are again from one of my favorites Carinos by Eydee, and they are a great statement earring and are very light weight, which is really nice on your ears, and I LOVE the aquamarine color of them!

When building my outfit today I started with the earrings and decided I really wanted to wear them with a color that would make them standout! So I choose to do an all coral outfit, it just so happened I had a pair of shorts and a top that matched perfectly in color, and really put me in a great mood because the color is so bright! I absolutely believe that the colors we wear can effect our mood.

If you want to try a monochromatic look but are a little afraid of wearing a bright color all over, you can accomplish by pairing a solid color items that matches the base of a printed item, as I have done. The base color of my shorts matches my button up chiffon top, so it gives me the monochromatic look. I finished off my look with a pair of shoes that matched in color to my lovely aquamarine earrings, a gold belt and adding some gold chains in my necklace and bracelet. It was a super easy outfit to wear and kept me cool in the crazy humidity we are having in San Antonio.

You have to go an check out Carinos by Eydee on Facebook to see all the beautiful, fun pieces she has for purchase- https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee

Floral and Chains

Today I decided to rock a floral dress and wanted to add a little edge to it!
I started with a dress I bought a few months ago at Kohl's and now it is a little looser on me, to help give me a waist I belted it, then I pulled the top out over the belt to give it that blousant look. I love the print and colors on this dress, if you have a dress that you love but is a little big think about adding a belt, keep in mind the silhouette of the dress this will effect if you will be able to pull this look off. It is best to try this with a dress that is a boxier cut.

Now, on to the accessories! As I stated above, I wanted to add some edge and knew that this fabulous triple chain gold necklace that I just received from Carinos by Eydee would be the perfect thing to add that edge, yet still look feminine!  I add a pair of earrings that had a great pop of green, that I carried over to a ring that I bought when I was in China. Then layered up my wrists with more Carinos pieces! (gold bangles w/jewels and gold chain bracelet) I finished my look with a pair of fuchsia t-strap heels, because I love how it pulled the color from the dress. I went with an up-do style for my hair as to really show off my fabulous necklace!

You must go and check out Carinos by Eydee (https://www.facebook.com/carinosby.eydee) she has the best accessory pieces!

A Statement Earring!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Today's post is going to be quick but I had to share with you a new pair of earrings! They are from a place called Sam Moon, if you live in San Antonio, Dallas or Austin you know what I am talking about! However if you are not from any of those place you can go online to Sammoon.com and buy!! The prices are so affordable, now the quality may not be top of the line but if you are looking for trendy, fun items that you don't want to spend too much on this is where you need to go!

As you can see I choose to pop that cobalt from the earring down to my shoes. I also went with my hair up and powder blue denim and a simple top. I thought that the powder blue played nicely with the cobalt. I kept all my other accessories very minimal as to really let the earrings stand out!

DIY Headpiece

For the longest time I was looking for a chain headpiece and could not find one at any local retailers, while I did see some online, they were a little more then what I wanted to pay. So I decided to make my own, and I am going to show your how too! Be sure to check out my outfit with headpiece at the end of this post!!

FYI this took me about 10 minutes and cost me about $10, super easy!!

WHAT YOU NEED:
Chain- I bought mine at Michael's and I actually bought 2 I will show you why shortly, but maybe you have an old necklace that you could use.
Left-over Earring- This was a pair of earrings that came as set with a necklace, and I have never worn the earrings, so it was perfect to use. Take a look in the jewelry you currently own, I am sure there is something that you can make work, and this is a great way to repurpose something you no longer wear.
Link Connectors and Lobster Claw Closure- Again I bought these at Michael's.
Needle Nose Pliers- I had these already, but I am sure you can find some at any craft store.

HOW TO:
(Hope you can understand my directions, if not email me)

Step 1- Measure the length for "A", I just did mine quickly in the mirror and held where I wanted it to end with my fingers. (If you use same chain as I have, ensure that you start measurement with lobster claw in back at end of "A")

Step 2- At the place you marked for "A" to end, open the chain link and remove excess chain.

Step 3- Again measure where you want "B" to fall your head, you are going to want a little bit of a drape on the side, and open link at that point and remove excess chain.  TIP: Mine worked out that after I measured "A", the leftover chain when cut in half was the perfect amount for "B" & "C"!

Step 4- Repeat step 3 for "C" (Unless you use my tip above!) You just want to ensure that the measurement of "B" and "C" are equal, so that it will sit on your head properly.

Step 5- Use link connector to attach "A", "B", and "C" together at what will be the front.

Step 6- Take earring and connect with link to the same link connector that you just used in step 5 (be sure to remove earring from any attachment that was used to make it hang)

Step 7- Use another link connector to attach "B" and "C" in back. (Now, you will see that in my picture below "B" & "C" have piece that are the ends of necklaces on both sides. The chain I bought came with that on one end, which I used for "B". I took that same piece off the 2nd chain I bought and attached it to "C".) If your chain "A" does not already have lobster claw at end, you will need to attach it to "A" and use to connect to link that is holding "B" and "C"

FINISHED!!

HOW I OUTFITTED IT:
Because this headpiece gives that boho vibe, I decided to incorporate that into the outfit I built, which turned out to be very colorful!

Army tee Glam

Today I decided I wanted to try and glam up my Leopard print Army Tee!!

I started by pairing it with these fuchsia dress shorts I recently bought from Ann Taylor Loft, then I layered my mint zip cardi with it because I really liked the color combo of fuchsia and mint together. To really achieve the look I was after, I went for one of the most glamorous necklaces I have and added a glam watch. I kept my accessories minimal in numbers as to really let the necklace do the talking! The necklace worked out really well with the color of my zip cardi, as the stones have that opalescence effect, so it looks cool when reflecting with the mint. I finished off my look with a sleek pair of nude heels with gold plate on cuff, to pull in the edginess from the tee. Oh! I almost forgot, I added a fuchsia lip, love me a colored lip!!

The idea of this look is one that I really love to dress with, I love pairing things together that you don't expect, like a tee with glamorous necklace and dressy shorts. It so much fun try and see what new and fresh looks you can come up with......so get in and shop your closets and see what usual things you can pair together, sometimes it is better then going shopping at a store (and more cost efficient!)

Hello June...here are my POP pants!

I can't believe we are already in JUNE!!
Since we are now officially in the midst of summer, I decide that I wanted to rock a pair of bight colored denim! I choose a pair of bright citrus denim, and chiffon cream button down, to keep it simple and let the pants be my POP!! I paired it with some chucky gold accessories and a nude snake skin heel!
Colored denim is such a fun and easy thing to wear when you just pair then with a neutral top and add some great accessories! Try to go for the brighter colors right now since we are in Summer, also because they are on the lower half of your body you don't have to worry about the color going with your skin tone, so you can pick a color you may not normally wear close to your face!

Pull out your colored denim if you have it, if not get out there and find some. Every retailer has them, from Old Navy to Nordstrom, so no matter your budget you should be able to find a color you love!
